Highway 1 was re-opened Monday evening after what Calgary police called a “serious crash.”
According to a tweet from 511 Alberta, the closure was at Old Banff Coach Road.
RCMP originally said the westbound lane of the highway would likely be impassable for an hour and a half.
EMS said three patients, including a child, were taken to hospital from the scene in non-life-threatening condition.
Motorists were advised to drive with caution in the area.
A blanket of snow fell in the Calgary region late Monday afternoon, causing traffic snarls on several major routes.
EMS said paramedics also responded to a collision between a gravel-type truck and an SUV on Lower Springbank Road at Township Road 242 at about 4 p.m.
Two adults and two children were taken to hospital from that collision, all in non-life-threatening condition.
Ambulances were called to a number of other crashes on Highway 1, however, officials didn’t have specific locations as of 4:45 p.m.
