Amber Alert ended for girl, 6, abducted in Sask.

An Amber Alert issued in three western Canadian provinces for a missing six-year-old girl who was abducted outside a strip mall in North Battleford, Sask., has ended.

Workers in a remote industrial area of the city contacted police at around 6:45 a.m. CT Monday, stating a vehicle parked off the road in bushes matched the description of stolen SUV from the Amber Alert.

The girl was found conscious inside the vehicle.

She was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released into the care of her family.

Police said they do not know how long the vehicle was in the area or where it may have travelled.

The girl was strapped in a car seat in the back seat of the SUV when it was stolen from in front of the strip mall at around 5 p.m. Sunday.

It had been left running while her mother momentarily went inside a store.

The Amber Alert was issued at 7:20 p.m. in Saskatchewan and later expanded to include Alberta and Manitoba.

There were concerns for the girl due to her medical conditions.

“I think any six-year-old that was taken against their will is definitely at risk,” RCMP Cpl. Rob King said at the time the Amber Alert was issued.

“This girl, given her medical conditions, is at higher risk.”

Police have no one in custody as they continue to investigate.
