UPDATE: Puppy recovering after alleged beating by owner

TURNER VALLEY, AB – Officials say a 12-week-old male border collie with three broken legs and a broken jaw is doing well after receiving surgery, and continues to recover from its horrific injuries.

The dog’s 19-year-old owner is facing criminal charges, after allegedly punching, kicking and throwing the animal.

It’s alleged to have happened in Turner Valley on March 13.

Alberta SPCA was originally investigating, but because of the severity of the injuries, the RCMP was asked to take over the matter.

The puppy, named Lucky, survived the attack. He was seized by the SPCA and required significant surgery.

His owner William Daniel Goyette will appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on April 12.
