Woman pinned under vehicle, killed after northeast Edmonton crash

A 74-year-old woman is dead after she was pinned under her vehicle in northeast Edmonton.

Police believe the woman was making a U-turn in the area of 18 Street and 153 Avenue when she opened the driver’s door of her Ford Flex, put her foot on the ground to check behind her, and ended up underneath the car as it reversed.

Police said the lower half of the woman’s body was pinned under the vehicle when officers arrived on scene just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman was treated and taken to hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Police said no one else was involved in the incident.

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate.

The woman’s name has not been released.
