Calgary police recovered a stolen Calgary Transit shuttle bus after it was taken from a 7-Eleven parking lot near the 39 Avenue S.E. transit station Thursday morning, Calgary Transit said.

Calgary Transit said the bus was out of service and there were no passengers on board when the operator went on a break around 4:50 a.m.

When the operator returned, the vehicle was gone, Calgary Transit said.

After reporting the incident, police tracked the vehicle using GPS to an industrial park in the Barlow Trail and Deerfoot Trail area.

The suspect driver was not found in the vehicle when police arrived at around 5:30 a.m. Police said they are going through surveillance footage to identify the person.

Calgary Transit said the vehicle was not damaged and are still investigating the incident.
