A canoe stolen from Nordale School has members of the community pleading for its immediate return.
The Nordale School Nature Playground Project in St. Boniface has seen big donations from community stakeholders, all with one goal in mind — to create a beautiful natural environment for young children to play in and learn more about nature.
Construction is currently underway and the red canoe were stolen from inside a locked area.
The owner of Ron Paul Garden Centre, Ray Dubois, has played a big role in the project.
“This was stolen from elementary school kids,” Dubois said. “It’s unbelievable to me that someone would do that.”
“No one is going to ask you questions, we don’t care. Just be cool and do the right thing. Bring it to my store on St. Mary’s Road or dump it back at the school,” added Dubois.
“Everyone does something silly once in awhile, we all get it. If someone could just bring back the canoe that was donated for these kids, we would be absolutely thrilled and thankful,” Dubois said.
According to a June 15th Facebook post, over $160,000 was raised with donations from multiple community members, spearheaded by two mothers.
