A pair of supercar owners who couldn’t wait to get to the race track before hitting the gas have had their vehicles seized.
Ridge Medows RCMP says the blue 2017 Lamborghini Aventador and black 2016 McLaren 675H with an “N” decal were both busted for excessive speeding Thursday morning.
According to the Mounties, the pair were headed eastbound on the 25800-block of Lougheed Highway when they were clocked at 138 kilometres per hour. The speed limit in the area is 80 kilometres per hour.
Ironically, the two 22-year-old men were on their way to the Mission Raceway, where they were set to participate in a planned private track event.

Both drivers are now facing a seven-day supsension, a $368 fine and three points on their driving records. The RCMP said an incident report will also be sent to the province’s Superintendent of Motor Vehicles for further review.
Mounties said one of the vehicles was equipped with a radar detector, and that the two drivers — both Burnaby residents — have both previously been given tickets for excessive speeding.
“This stretch of Lougheed Highway is our number one problem area when it comes to excessive speed,” said Traffic Sgt. Bruce McCowan in a media release.
“No matter the time of year this specific area is plagued with unsafe speeds, 24/7, regardless of the road and weather conditions. We have seen too many tragic outcomes where all the driver needed to do was just slow down.”

The Ridge Meadows RCMP says it has already ticketed 472 drivers for excessive speeding in 2018. It says 178 of those tickets happened on the stretch of Lougheed Highway between Maple Ridge and Mission.
Police said they intend to impound any vehicles cited for excessive speeding for the allowable maximum of seven days.
