London Police didn’t have to go far to arrest a break-and-enter suspect Thursday morning.

Police say a 29-year-old man is in custody after attempting to break into London Police Headquarters early Thursday morning.

Investigators say a man was seen breaking the front window of a store at 437 Adelaide St. with an object around 1 a.m. The man quickly left the scene and was later observed hitting the front door of a building at 572 Dundas St. before moving to police headquarters at 601 Dundas St., police said.

“The man struck a glass exit door on the north side of the building with a bicycle chain, eventually breaking the glass and attempting to enter the building,” said police constable Sandasha Bough. “Officers attended the scene and instructed the man to drop the bicycle chain. When he refused, a Taser was successfully deployed.”

The man was taken into custody after he was tasered. He is charged with break and enter, possession of a weapon, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Damages are estimated at approximately $3,000.

The suspect is expected to appear in London court Thursday in relation to this incident.
