UPDATED: Fire crews called to Knox Mountain fire

Firefighters were called to a grass fire on Knox Mountain just before 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Twenty-five firefighters, three fire engines, three bush trucks and one tender responded to the blaze near Kathleen Lake.

B.C. Forestry helicopters also started bucketing water on the fire as it started to get into the trees.

The fire was fully contained about an hour after it started, but crews remained on scene suppressing hot spots, Platoon Capt. Steve Roshinsky said in a news release.

No structures were in danger, according to the Kelowna Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by both the fire department and RCMP.
