Burnaby senior seriously injured in Central Park attack, no arrests made

A 73-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after a vicious attack in Burnaby’s Central Park.

RCMP say it happened around 9 p.m. Sunday night and they’re still on the lookout for a suspect.

The senior was walking alone in the park when it happened on a path close to 5889 Patterson Avenue.

He was taken to hospital with what initially thought were minor injuries, but police say they turned out to be much more serious and are life-altering.

According to some witnesses a young male was seen running towards the Patterson SkyTrain Station.

He is described as being non-white, slim build, about 5-feet 9-inches tall, between the ages of 14 and 18, and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, white shoes, and possibly a red cap.

RCMP say it’s not clear what sparked the attack.

Wednesday is the first anniversary of Marrisa Shen’s murder in Central Park.
