Kawartha Lakes Police are seeking help to identify a man and woman who were allegedly involved in two separate “distraction” thefts in Lindsay last week.

Police are investigating incidents on July 5 at an Angeline Street North department store. Police say victims reported their debit cards went missing and their bank accounts had been accessed.

“In both incidents, the victims were approached by a male and female after leaving the store,” police noted.

Police say the suspects attempted to return a $20 bill to the victims, indicating the bill had been dropped.

While attempting to put the bill into the victims’ open wallets, police say the suspects removed the victims’ debit cards while distracting them.

“Police suspect that the PIN number for the cards had been obtained when the victims made purchases in the store,” police stated.
