Police looking for witnesses of Calgary taxi collision that sent woman to hospital

The Calgary Police Service is asking anyone who witnessed a pedestrian collision on July 10 to come forward.

In a news release police said on Tuesday at 2 p.m., a 2017 Toyota Prius taxi was backing out of a parking stall while an 82-year-old woman was walking by.

According to police, the taxi driven by a 49-year-old man reversed “into the pedestrian’s path of travel, nudging the woman.”

The woman fell and struck her head and was taken to hospital where police said she remains in serious but stable condition.

The incident took place in a parking lot in the 5300 block of 1 Street S.W.

The driver of the taxi did not sustain any injuries and police do not suspect alcohol or speed to be factors in the collision.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Calgary police service traffic section at 403-567-4000 or Crime Stoppers.
