Hamilton police say drugs, cash and firearms have been seized as part of a recent crackdown on property crime.

A recent spike in break-ins and thefts in the city prompted police to launch Project Day Break in June.

Officers from a number of units were deployed over a four-week period resulting in 21 arrests and 82 criminal charges.

It also led to the recovery of $100,000 in stolen property, 10 firearms, 7,600 rounds of ammunition and $10,000 in cash.

Drugs including crystal meth and cocaine were also seized.

Five people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Anyone who suspects that they are a victim of property crime is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
