The house was nearly burnt to the ground before crews were able to put it out.

Neighbour Claudio Ledo described what he experienced.

“I heard a big bang,” he said. “I thought it was a car hitting my house. I ran out, there was no car hitting my house and I saw my neighbour running and I ran after him, and there was a blaze of fire. I’ve never seen anything like that, only in the movies you see that.”

Ledo added that the fire was so hot that they couldn’t get anywhere near the home.
