RBC Canadian Open moves to June, starting next year in Hamilton

When the Hamilton Golf and Country Club hosts the RBC Canadian Open next year, the tournament will be played in early June.

That means the PGA Tour event will move out of the shadow of the British Open.

Canada’s national golf championship has been held in late July, always the week after the Open Championship, causing many of the PGA Tour’s top players to miss the tournament.

The tournament will now be held the week before the U.S. Open.

Next year’s event is June 3-9 at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Golf Canada also announced that the Canadian Open’s overall purse will be increased to US$7.6 million for 2019, up from $6.4 million.

The Hamilton Golf and Country Club will also host the Canadian Open in 2023.

Hamilton has hosted the tournament five times, first in 1919 and most recently in 2012.
