UPDATED: Series of spot fires on West Kelowna’s Mount Boucherie

Fire crews responded to a series of small fires along a Mount Boucherie trail on Monday evening. – Jul 2, 2018

Fire crews were dispatched to a handful of small fires in West Kelowna on Monday afternoon.

Five small fires were found on a one-kilometre stretch of trail on Mount Boucherie near Royal LePage Place.

Nineteen firefighters and four trucks responded to the scene.

“Weather conditions were cool with some rain and little wind in the area, which helped keep the fires small,” West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund said.

“The fires are certainly suspicious. It’s not normal to see this many different locations all in one area,” he added.

Fire investigators from West Kelowna and the B.C. Wildfire Service are working with RCMP to investigate.
