Photographer Helen Tansey prides herself on getting the perfect shot for her clients.
She started her career as a professional model in Europe and then made the transition from being in front of the camera to behind the lens.
“It wasn’t actually that difficult,” Tansey said. “Because when I modeled, as much as I loved it, I was always more interested in what the photographers were doing.”
For more than 25 years Tansey has been taking head shots of actors, celebrities and families, but her latest passion has been photographing women over 40 and celebrating the beauty of getting older.

“Sundari in Sanskrit means beautiful,” Tansey said.
“I want to help women feel good about aging.”
The Sundari Project was created with the hope of empowering women to age gracefully and to celebrate the beauty in that.
“We need more images of women out there, not only for us but for younger women so that they’re not afraid to get older,” Tansey said. “That they see getting older as a beautiful thing, as a powerful thing and not something to be afraid of.”
Tansey is extremely passionate about capturing beautiful images of women after 40 in order to make sure that all ages are well represented.
“I think when we just focus on what we physically look like, it’s harder because we just see ourselves aging,” Tansey said.
“But when we feed our soul, when we feed our spirit, again that just shines out of us and that’s timeless.”
