Update: Cyclist dies in hospital following June collision with vehicle in southeast Calgary

A 67-year-old cyclist hit by an SUV in the southeast Calgary community of Deer Run last month has died in hospital.

Police said the man died on July 1 after suffering a serious head injury in the collision on June 24.

The 52-year-old driver of the vehicle was eastbound on Deer Meade Road S.E. and the cyclist was northbound on Deer Run Drive S.E. when the collision occurred, police said.

Police said the cyclist struck the rear side of the vehicle, and that speed and alcohol are not factors in the investigation.

The collision investigation continues, police said.
