Innisfil teen charged with breach of probation, resisting arrest

A 16-year-old teenager from Innisfil is facing several charges after police say he resisted arrest.

According to South Simcoe Police, at around 3 p.m. on June 21, an officer spotted a teenager at a plaza in the Innisfil Beach Road and 25 Sideroad area.

The officer recognized the teenager who was wanted on a number of warrants, and approached him while calling his name.

Police say the teen fled and a short foot-chase ensued. The officer caught the teenager, however, a struggle occurred and another officer who had arrived on the scene had to assist in the arrest.

According to police, the teen was transported to the North Division where he was held for bail due to the outstanding warrants. He is now facing additional charges of assault with intent to resist arrest and breach of probation.
