An Ottawa Police operation has resulted in six people being arrested and the seizure of a large amount of narcotics.
According to police, 100,000 methamphetamine pills were seized as well as four handguns with hollow point ammunition and extended magazines during the operation that began on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 20.
Police say several warrants were executed at three residences in Ottawa with the assistance of various other police units, including the Tactical Unit, a K-9 Unit, and central front-line officers. Addresses for the raids included the 500 block of Burleigh Private, the 1000 block of Cummings Avenue and the 1-100 block of Lees Avenue.
“This is an excellent example of the proactive investigative focus our covert operations have on gun violence suppression and drug trafficking in our community,” said acting insp. Tim Hodgins with the criminal investigations directorate.
Other drugs were seized during the raids, including cocaine and crack cocaine, MDA, oxycodone pills, as well as 13 kg of marijuana. A large amount of Canadian currency was also seized.
All of the suspects arrested in yesterday’s raids will appear in court Thursday.
