Portage la Prairie man dies after assault, police look for suspects

RCMP are on the hunt for suspects after a Portage la Prairie man was assaulted and later died from his injuries.

Police said a 56-year-old man was assaulted by unidentified suspects at his house in the 400 block of Royal Road North last month.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died on June 17.

Police are now investigating as a homicide — they want to speak with anybody who has knowledge of those involved in the assault, as well as anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time.

The assault happened at around 7:30 p.m. May 23.

Officials said there is no danger to the public.
