Oneida Nation of the Thames has elected a new chief.

On June 16, members of the Oneida Nation elected Jessica Hill to the position. She was among seven candidates vying for the position. Twelve other people were elected to serve as members of council.

Officials with the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians say Hill previously served as Oneida’s director of operations and has a range of political experience.
