Toronto police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with stabbing incidents at a TTC subway station and on a bus.
A police spokesperson told Global News early Tuesday that the suspect was arrested late Monday outside of Toronto.
News of the arrest comes after police said just before 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to Islington Avenue south of Dixon Road after a man got into an argument with a TTC bus driver.
Investigators alleged the man then stabbed the driver in his cheek with a broken toothbrush before running away south on Islington Avenue.
Officers said the driver was taken to hospital and later released with minor injuries.
Just over 12 hours later, police said a 46-year-old man was stabbed multiple times with an unknown object while walking through the TTC pedestrian tunnel connecting Lines 1 and 2 near Spadina Road and Bloor Street West at around 4 p.m.
Investigators said it was a random and unprovoked attack. The suspect managed to flee the station.
The victim is in serious, but non-life-threatening condition.
Police said 22-year-old Liam Mitchell McCallum is facing multiple charges.
Officers are expected to provide an update on the arrest and the list of charges Tuesday morning.
