Ontario’s police watchdog investigating Brantford Police after injured man found under cruiser

BRANTFORD, Ont. – Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a 25-year-old man in Brantford, Ont., was found seriously injured under a police cruiser.

The Special Investigations Unit says the incident happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday after officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to the scene of an investigation.

The SIU says one of the officers entered his cruiser and began driving before he realized someone was under the vehicle.

The agency says a tow truck was called to lift the cruiser off the man, who later became involved in “an interaction” with officers.

The SIU says the man was taken to Brantford General Hospital with serious injuries, then transferred to Hamilton General Hospital.

Anyone with information or video footage of the incident is asked to contact the SIU.
