Allen Miller has been elected mayor of Invermere. He won with 856 votes, beating out Mark Topliff, who earned 186 votes, according CivicInfo BC.
Incumbent councillor Greg Anderson was re-elected, along with newcomers Kayja Becker, Ute Juras and Gerry Taft.

Invermere can be found on Windermere Lake, close to B.C.’s border with Alberta. It’s about 135 kilometres north of Cranbrook.

History
The Ktunaxa people were first to the area that includes Invermere.
And they were there when explorer David Thompson arrived in the area in 1807, as he explored the upper Columbia River.
Copper City was the first settlement in the area near Invermere in 1890.
Its name was changed to Canterbury and then to Invermere in 1909.
Much of the land in the valley was owned by Columbia Valley Fruit Lands Ltd.
Today, Invermere is seen as the “commercial hub” of the Columbia Valley. Tourism is its main economic driver, but forestry and mining play a role, too.
