Nearly one year and a half after a fire completely destroyed Linguini Restaurant in Baie d’Urfé, the evidence of that day is still on full display.
“We’ve gotten lots of complaints from people from the industrial park and also citizens from the town of Baie d’Urfé, that when they drive by our beautiful park it’s a bit of an eyesore,” said Baie d’Urfé Mayor Maria Tutino.

The town says it will be giving Linguini 30 days to clean up. If the restaurant doesn’t comply, the town will complete the clean-up on its own and bill the restaurant for the cost of the service.
Tutino said after the cleanup is complete, she would love to see the restaurant rebuild.
“We’re hoping that’s going to happen,” Tutino said. “It’s one of the jewels of our industrial park. It’s an excellent restaurant and it’s a much-needed asset.”

Linguini declined our request for an on-camera interview, but co-owner Raffeale De Marco told Global News in a phone call that the restaurant is still waiting for compensation from its insurance company. He said the restaurant and the insurance company are currently in a dispute, which they are trying to settle.
De Marco said the restaurant will meet the town’s request to clean up the site. He added that if and when they do receive the compensation, they will rebuild.
