Alleged sexual assault in Delta’s Sunbury neighbourhood prompts police warning

Police have stepped up patrols in the Sunbury neighbourhood after a woman reported being sexually assaulted early Thursday morning. File/Global News

Delta Police have issued a public warning after a woman reported being sexually assaulted near Sunbury Hall last week.

Police say the incident happened on April 12, in the early morning hours.

The victim was walking into the park next to the hall when she was approached from behind by a man who then sexually assaulted her, according to a police media release.

She reported the incident the following day, and police said they have since stepped up patrols in the neighbourhood.

Police describe the suspect as about 35 years old, five-foot-10 inches tall, with short brown hair, a full beard and a thin-looking face.

He has a medium build and was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.
