The first ever Fun for All Fair was held at the St. Laurent Education Centre Saturday afternoon.
The event, hosted by Inspirations News, aimed to highlight the numerous activities and resources that are available in Montreal for people with special needs.

Participants of all abilities were encouraged to try out the different exhibitor’s play stations. Featured activities included wheelchair basketball, karate, ballet, soccer and even science and art workshops.
“We are delighted with everyone who has participated and all our exhibitors who are showcasing the kinds of services they have for our special needs community,” said Linda Mahler, coordinator of educational outreach at Inspirations News.

Mahler explained the fair was a chance for kids to enjoy themselves.
“It is an afternoon where kids are not at a therapy session … even if we know that therapies are so important,” she said.
“Fun is important and we can gain all our skills through fun — our communication skills, our physical skills and our social skills.”
Organizers say the event isn’t just about showcasing adapted programs, but also about raising awareness.
“We hope to encourage other organizations to open their services to people with diverse needs,” a statement on Inspirations News’ website reads.
