Guelph police have seized about $100,000 worth of illegal drugs along with several firearms and knives after stopping and searching a car they identified as stolen.
Police say officers on routine patrol in the Waterloo Avenue and Dublin Street area of Guelph around 11 p.m. Thursday night tried to stop two vehicles.

Police say that the license plates on one of the vehicles — a white Pontiac — was flagged as stolen. When officers approached the vehicles, the second vehicle sped away and officers made no attempt to chase after the driver.
Police say there was a brief struggle as officers tried to arrest the driver of the white Pontiac.

Police say they found items that would suggest drug trafficking such as several knives, scales, replica handguns and ammunition when they searched the car.
Police also seized drugs including cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, suspected fentanyl, marijuana and cannabis resin.

In total, officers seized over $10,500 in cash and over $100,000 worth of drugs.
A 38-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of stolen property along with six counts of possession of a controlled substance.
