Okanagan musicians are getting ready to celebrate the life of Canadian icon Gord Downie by playing the music he helped The Tragically Hip create.
The Gord Downie Tribute Concert is set for Friday, Apr. 6 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.
“People have had a chance to do their grieving or whatever and now I think they want to celebrate his life and what he meant to Canada,” said concert promoter Don DeGagne.

The concert will feature a number of local musicians playing various Hip hits, all backed by Kelowna’s very own Tragically Hip tribute act The Hip Replacements.
“It’s going to be a really special night, so I’m really looking forward to it,” Hip Replacement front man Paul Sexsmith said.
All proceeds from the evenings festivities will go towards funding children’s programs at the Kelowna and District Safety Council.
