A Regina man is facing multiple child pornography charges after the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) investigated suspicious social media activity.

The ICE Unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service with a mandate to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.

The investigation began on Jan. 5 and resulted in charges of offences committed by accessing certain social media that was available through the phone system.

On March 29, Gabriel Michael Fisher, formerly known as Kevin Daniel Hudec, 48, of Regina, was found in his home and held in custody until charges were laid.

Fisher faces numerous child pornography offences, as well as a further criminal offence.

He appeared in Regina provincial court on March 29, and was remanded until his next court appearance on April 5 at 9:30 a.m.
