As revellers celebrated the feast of St. Patrick on March 17, local police worked to keep the festivities fun and safe.
Police increased their patrol efforts on Saturday in an effort to keep the streets calm. Although there were a few problems around the city, officers say there weren’t any major concerns.
“We did have to shut down a few large parties that were threatening to spill into the streets,” said Sgt. Dave Ellyatt.
“It was a busy day but overall there were no major issues,” he said.
More than 200 warnings and nearly 50 tickets were issued, police said. Four people were also arrested, three for Criminal Code offences, the other was charged in accordance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Compared to last year, Liquor Licence Act charges are down, but Criminal Code Charges are up.

Working with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), police inspected 21 bars, noting several infractions. Police say the AGCO is investigating.
The London Fire Department removed a tent under an immediate threat to life provision under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
Multiple warnings were also issued for smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm infractions.
London police’s increased presence across the city was supported by community partners including AGCO, City of London Bylaw Enforcement, London Fire Department and Middlesex London EMS.
In total 214 warnings were issued.
