Pictures show blockades set up in the 1400 block of Hillside Avenue in the Oaklands area.

A spokesperson with the BC Coroners Service confirmed they are investigating a single fatality, and that the victim is a male.

Reports on the scene say the victim was stabbed, but police haven’t confirmed the cause of death.

The RCMP’s Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. The unit says Victoria police responded to a call of a disturbance on Saturday morning where a man was found dead.

They added the road is expected to stay closed throughout the rest of Saturday.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have been in the area between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m. is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
