B.C. RCMP have launched a code of conduct investigation into an officer who allegedly simulated a sex act with an eggplant.

RCMP spokesperson Staff-Sgt. Annie Linteau said the force became aware of a photo and text chats in October 2017.

Linteau said a review has become a formal internal code of conduct investigation, subject to the Privacy Act.

The investigation was apparently triggered when a probationary constable was fired.

Linteau said the RCMP are not confirming any names of the individuals involved in the investigation right now, unless the case results in a conduct hearing.

She added the firing of the officer stands, and the reasons for his discharge were initiated prior to, and is separate from, the ongoing internal investigation.
