It has been quite the start to the month of March, with just over 10 centimetres of snow falling in the London area overnight.
Environment Canada has ended it’s snowfall warning for London, Komoka, Parkhill, and Middlesex County.
Despite the snow, all school buses in the region started on time. Some school buses may be delayed during their route as drivers respond to road conditions.
But it could still be a challenging morning commute for motorists.
Manager of Roadside Operations for the city John Parsons says crews have been busy through the night, but drivers will need to give themselves extra time and drive carefully.
“You have to be ready for the driving conditions, the roads and sidewalks will be snow covered, so you just have to remind yourself of being diligent of driving in those conditions. Just be aware of that, and give yourself more time to get to where your going.”
The national weather services says Chatham-Kent received between 10 and 15 centimetres, Norfolk County go over 15 centimetres, Huron-Perth received between five and 10 centimetres, and just over two centimetres of snow fell in Grey-Bruce.
Parsons says the recent warm spell really helps.
“Certainly the warmer weather helped get rid of the snow banks so now we have a place to put the new stuff coming down,” said Parsons.
“We still have our winter shift on, we’re still operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all our road plows and sidewalk plows are still under contract, so we were prepared for this.”
The good news for Londoners dreading picking up their snow shovel once again is that Friday’s forecast calls for a mixture of sun and cloud, with a high around zero.
Environment Canada is calling for sun over the weekend, with highs around plus 2 or 3 C.
