A familiar face rejoins the Opposition side of the legislature Tuesday as Liberal Ben Stewart takes his seat after winning the Kelowna West by-election two weeks ago.
Although Stewart is B.C.’s newest MLA, he’s no political newbie, having represented the riding from 2009 to 2013 and serving in several cabinet posts.
He stepped aside shortly after the 2013 provincial election so then-Liberal leader and premier Christy Clark could have a safe riding to run in, after losing her Vancouver-area seat.
Stewart ran again after Clark resigned last summer and easily won the Feb. 14 byelection, capturing 56 per cent of the vote.
