Am Ottawa man is facing drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in Peterborough on Friday night.
Peterborough police say around 8:40 p.m., an officer noticed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Reid and McDonnel streets.
“While speaking with the male driver of the vehicle the driver provided the officer with a false name and the male was placed under arrest for obstructing justice,” said police spokesperson Lauren Gilchrist.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized “a large amount” of cash and anabolic steroids and found the man was carrying a prohibited weapon (knife). No specifics were provided.
Jesse Ezra Kennedy-Roy, 22, of Monfort Street, is charged with possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking; unauthorized possession of a weapon; possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (knife); possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000; obstructing a peace officer and failure to comply with a probation order
He appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on Saturday, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later Monday.
