Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant nabbed in West Kelowna

A West Kelowna man wanted on Canada-wide warrants has been nabbed on his home turf.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Monday, RCMP were called to a home in the 2800 block of Scharf Road in West Kelowna for a break and enter in progress.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but officers were able to catch up with him.

“When confronted, the suspect fled from police on foot. After a long track through difficult terrain, he was taken into police custody by general duty officers with the support of Kelowna RCMP police dog services,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release.

The 31-year-old West Kelowna man is believed to have committed additional break-ins in the area. He remains in police custody and faces additional potential charges.
