Highways reopened after two crashes in the Okanagan and Similkameen
UPDATE – Traffic is again flowing normally at the crash sites on both Highway 97 and Highway 3.
UPDATE – RCMP say the transport truck is the only vehicle involved in the crash which happened just after 9:30 a.m. near Kekuli Bay Road.
The truck driver and a passenger, both from the Lower Mainland, were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
“Motorists on the road are fortunate that this incident was a minor one, although causing long traffic delays,” said RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett. “The outcome could have been a lot more severe.”
Brett says the cause of the crash is being investigated.
Crews are working to clear the highway but there is no estimated time of reopening.
A vehicle crash disrupted traffic on Highway 97 just south of Vernon Friday morning.
It involves a semi-trailer transport truck that is blocking lanes.
Vehicles are being re-routed on a side road around the crash site.
And Highway 3 near Hedley is closed because of a vehicle incident.
There is a detour available with the highway expected to reopen at 4:00 p.m.
