Montreal police have released photos and information about the suspect in a series of home invasions targeting older women.
The man, described to be in his 40s or 50s, would allegedly start speaking to the victims as they approached their front doors.
Montreal police say the “charming” suspect has used names such as Aaron, David and Alain.
The 5-foot-11 man targets older women, including some who are trying to sell their homes by themselves.
Police say the suspect pretends to be interested in the property.
He then reportedly offers gifts such as wine and chocolate, which causes his victims to become unconscious.
“No physical violence, no sexual violence — when they woke up, they were just confused with no memory of what happened in the past few hours,”authorities explained in a press release.
He then leaves the home with valuables such as cash, jewelry and electronics.
“The suspect used a charming, gentle approach to establish trust with his victims so they would let him into their homes,” police said.
The invasions took place mostly in Pointe-aux-Trembles, Rivière-des-Prairies and Dorval during the month of December.
Officers describe the suspect as a Caucasian male with a light tan and a shaved head.
He speaks French peppered with English expressions.
His vehicle has been identified by police as a white Jeep Cherokee.
Montreal Police are working with Quebec provincial police and Ottawa police on the case.
Anyone who was victim, or who knows someone who was a victim, is asked to contact their local police station or call 911.
