3 point night for Shmyr as Saskatoon Blades head into break with win

The Saskatoon Blades are heading into the holiday break on a winning note and tied for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference after downing the Regina Pats 3-2 on Sunday in Western Hockey League (WHL) action.

Braylon Shmyr factored in all the scoring for the Blades (15-17-3) with a goal and two assists.

Chase Wouters and Josh Peterson also scored and Kirby Dach had two assists.

Regina (16-17-3) got goals from Jake Leschyshyn and Matt Bradley.

Nolan Maier made 27 saves for his second win over the Pats in three days while Tyler Brown had 22 saves in the loss.

Saskatoon went 2 for 4 on the power play and Regina went 1 for 5.

The Blades are now off until Dec. 27 when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders at home in the first of a home-and-home series.

Both teams are tied for the final wild card spot in the East with 33 points, although the Raiders have one game in hand.
