Man charged after woman killed in central Edmonton motorcycle crash

A 30-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection with a motorcycle crash that killed a 23-year-old woman in early September.

At around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, police were called to a motorcycle crash on Groat Road, near the bottom of the Victoria Park Road hill.

Police said a 2008 Ducati motorcycle was heading west down the Victoria Park Road hill when it reportedly struck a 2007 Toyota Yaris, which was heading in the same direction.

The 30-year-old man driving the motorcycle and his 23-year-old passenger were thrown from the bike, police said.

The passenger, who has since been identified as Harley Kelly, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kelly was a mother to a 10-month-old boy.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The man driving the Yaris was not injured.

Police said Friday Harsha Dandamudi was arrested on Thursday. Dandamudi is charged with dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

So far this year, 28 people have been killed in collisions on Edmonton roads.
