It was a light schedule for the Saskatchewan Huskies, with only the volleyball teams in action.

On the men’s side, the Huskies were looking to hand the Winnipeg Wesmen their first loss of the year while the women were looking to get to .500 on the season.

Men’s Volleyball

The Huskies men’s volleyball team are still in search of their first win of the season after being swept by the fourth-ranked Wesmen.

The men fell in four close sets to the Wesmen on Friday: 22-25, 27-25, 26-24 and 28-26.

Colin Fraser had 20 kills to lead the Huskies and CJ Gavlas had 50 assists and 10 digs.

The two sides were back on the court Saturday and the Wesmen completed the weekend sweep in five sets: 12-25, 25-18, 25-14, 23-25 and 15-12.

Fraser again led the Huskies with 15 kills and Lukas Radzuweit had nine kills and four digs.

Women’s Volleyball

On the women’s side, the Huskies swept their weekend series with the Wesmen to get back to .500 on the season.

In Friday’s opener, the Huskies won the match in four sets: 25-21, 18-25, 25-13 and 25-19.

Taylor Annala led the Huskies with 13 kills and Mackenzie Pek had 36 assists.

The Huskies only need three sets the following night to complete the sweep: 25-18, 25-23 and 25-8.

Ruby Stefan had 16 kills in the win and Pek had 28 assists.

Both squads enter a bye week and will be back in action on Nov. 17 and 18 when they travel to Calgary to take on the Dinos.
