On Friday, Nova Scotia’s Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Leo Glavine announced the province was investing $150,000 to support the city and the event.
In a statement, Glavine said the event will underline Sydney’s ability to host national and international events.
“The community is ready to put on an amazing spectacle of the finest in women’s curling, local entertainment and Cape Breton hospitality and the province is proud to be part of it,” he said.
There will be 16 teams playing in the tournament, including 14 provincial and territorial champions, the defending champion Team Canada and a wild-card team.
The province last hosted the tournament in 1992.
