Police have charged a 20-year-old Calgary man in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on a Calgary Transit bus last month.
The incident happened at around 3 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 1 after the victim boarded a bus in the area of Centre Street South and 4 Avenue S.E.
The suspect boarded the same bus at the next stop and sat down next to the girl.
In a Wednesday news release, police said the suspect took off his leather jacket and placed it across his lap and the victim’s lap.
“He then allegedly proceeded to sexually assault the teen.”
The victim asked the man to stop. When he continued, she stood up and moved past him to get to another area of the bus.
Police allege the suspect then again sexually assaulted the girl as she walked by.
“The victim was able to move to a different area of the bus and got off at the next stop,” police said. “The suspect got off the bus at the stop at 64 Avenue and Centre Street North.”
Police have charged Tamim Samimi with sexual assault and sexual interference with a youth.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.
Anyone who is a victim of a sexual assault is encouraged to call 911 for a crime in progress or the non-emergency number 403-266-1234 to report the incident.
