The search for evidence continued Monday, as London police drained a pond in a southeast community near the home where the remains of 26-year-old Josephine “Josie” Glenn were found.

City services helped members of the marine unit and the major crime unit empty the drainage pond in Meadowgate Park in the Summerside subdivision, though police remained tight-lipped about what they might find.

“We’re still looking for additional evidence,” said Const. Sandasha Bough, citing a court-imposed publication ban on the specifics of what the evidence might be.

“We have had a number of officers at the residence, as well as in the neighbouring subdivision.”

Peter Austin lives across the street from where Glenn’s remains were found, and had difficulty getting home Friday evening because police blocked off access to the street.

“That’s when I spotted the black gentleman that was getting handcuffed,” he said.

“I hadn’t seen him before.”

From what Austin knows, the residence is home to a mother and a daughter.

“There was never any wild parties or racket coming from there where you had to call the police. So it’s been a shock, I know, to a lot of the residents here.”

Austin said he’ll be more observant in the community now, and says he feels worried for the children living in the normally quiet subdivision.

“We’ve been here for what? Six years now. And this — this is the most action we’ve had since we moved here.”

Police were unable to say whether they’d found a weapon in relation to the case. They also wouldn’t comment on whether or not the suspect and victim knew each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
