New CROP poll shows Plante and Coderre neck-and-neck as mayoral race draws to an end

A new CROP poll commissioned by Radio-Canada and released Monday morning shows incumbent Mayor Denis Coderre and challenger Valérie Plante in a dead heat with less than a week to go before Montrealers head to the polls.

The poll shows that Projet Montréal’s Plante has a two-point lead over Coderre with 39 per cent of those polled saying they favoured Plante, while 37 per cent backed Coderre and 17 per cent were undecided.

With a margin of error of three percentage points, the results suggest the race is anyone’s to win.

Conducted between Oct. 19-24, the survey included 1,094 respondents.

Advance polls were held on Sunday and the returning officer confirmed that 74,733 electors representing 6.54 per cent of registered voters had cast a ballot.

In 2013, voter turnout at the advance poll was 5.58 per cent.
