Montreal police search for suspect after stabbing in Plateau apartment

A 27-year-old man is in hospital following a stabbing in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough Monday.

It happened at around 1:15 a.m. in an apartment on Papineau Street, between Sherbrooke and Gauthier streets.

Montreal police spokesperson Andréanne Picard said a 21-year-old man showed up at the victim’s apartment for reasons unknown and stabbed him in the upper body with an edged weapon before fleeing the scene.

The victim called 911 and was rushed to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Picard said the conflict could be drug-related.

She confirmed both men know each other and both are known to police.

Officers have yet to locate the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
