RCMP member charged after charity fraud investigation at Alberta school

A man who has been working for the RCMP for 12 years and a woman have been charged in connection with a fraud investigation.

In April 2017, the RCMP Serious Crimes Branch General Investigational Section started looking into misappropriated funds from a charity called “Whoo’s Crew” at the Crossfield Elementary School from October 2015 to November 2016.

Const. Sean Taylor, an RCMP member, and Cori Taylor, a woman who lives in Crossfield, Alta., have been jointly charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Cori Taylor has also been charged with one count of uttering a forged document, one count of fraud over $5,000, five counts of fraud under $5,000, three counts of forgery and one count of false pretenses to obtain credit over $5,000.

The 12-year RCMP member has been suspended with pay since June 27.

The couple is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday in Airdrie.

Crossfield is located 50 kilometres north of Calgary.
