Carjacked vehicle from Hamilton crashes into OPP cruiser in Kitchener

Police are still looking for a stolen car and four suspects after an armed carjacking on the Hamilton Mountain.

Officers were called to a Husky gas station parking lot at Upper Wellington and Limeridge Road just before midnight Wednesday night after a man reported his car had been stolen.

The Cambridge man says while he was pumping air into his vehicle’s tires when a dark-coloured Hyundai Santa Fe SUV pulled up and three men got out, while the driver remained inside.

The suspects are described as being in their early to mid-20s and wearing zipped up hoodies and face coverings.

The victim told police one of the suspects was holding a gun and demanded he hand over his keys.

Police say the men took the man’s 2008 Black Mitsubishi Lancer (License plate # BYWF 304) and fled southbound on Upper Wellington followed by the SUV.

Police say at around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, the car was involved in a hit and run with an OPP cruiser when it was driving the wrong way on Hwy 7 in Kitchener. The officer was not injured.
